All students are responsible for signing the designated library log after passing a test. Logbooks are kept in the unlikely event of a catastrophic computer malfunction. YOU are responsible for accurately recording your information. A score of 70% or higher is considered passing. Give students tickets for books that they read, and then they can cash them in for prizes (such as inexpensive Book Fair titles). Have lunch with the teacher. You can do this as an individual award for a really big goal or you could also do it as a small group award.

Recent research shows that kindness counts in more ways than the obvious growth of morality. We are not meant to be completely independent or dependent, but to give and receive in mutual interdependence. We all seek, on some level, to make a difference and live a life of purpose. As we give to others, we strengthen ourselves.   You should count yourself at the place where you are living and sleeping most of the time as of April 1, (Census Day). For some, this is straightforward. But others—including college students, service members, and people in health care facilities—may have questions about where they should count themselves or how they should respond.

The book is based around that fact that there are many college students who get straight A's, yet don't study for more than a couple hours a day and still have plenty of other things going on in their lives. It lays out effective strategies for note-taking, quizzing yourself, writing papers, and more. When your student has completed a book, they can take a Reading Counts quiz on one of the Chromebooks located in the library, in their classroom or at home. Reading Counts can be accessed from Beachport. Each quiz contains 10 questions and students must answer 7 out of 10 questions correctly to pass. For each passed quiz, they earn points.
